Everyone knows how Theo Epstein likes to hem and haw, going back and forth on things, but one recent descion the young exec should really reconsider is attending the Cape Elizabeth High School prom this weekend in Maine.
As it turns out when Sox were down in Spring training in Fort Myers, Florida two months ago two high schoolers offered the GM a deal he could't possibly pass up. Alice Evans and Grace Needleman asked the thirty two year old Sox suit(or) to the prom.
So much for Theo becoming their Maine Man...
After going out of his way to talk to the gals in the outfield and after reportedly first saying "yes" the then red-faced, Red Sox brass stepped in and made sure everyone knew that Epstein wasn't going to be attending the event. Talk about having no class.
In any event we did some digging on the Cape Elizabeth High School website and we discovered the big date happens to be this Saturday May 6. Considering the Sox first series with the Yanks this season was earlier this week and the Red Sox face the lowly O's this Saturday... we think Theo should be a sport, darn some dress socks, and hightail it up to Freeport. After all Epstein could even chalk it up as a scouting trip and catch a Cape Elizabeth baseball game.
To encourage Theo to trade in his GM suit for a tux this weekend... www.thewadeblogs.com is accepting dollar donations. Note: should we raise enough dough all procceeds will go to hiring a limo for Theo (should he go). Otherwise we will use all proceeds to buy the gals a corsage/flowers with an attached "Thinking of you" note from Theo.
Not that Epstein should really need any needling as Needleman is quite the looker. Being 33 ourselves thewadeBlogs.com can't help but be reminded of that famous quip by Matthew McConaughey in Dazed & Confused... "That's what I love about these high school girls, man. I get older, they stay the same age."
Red Sox fan or not... be a sport and donate a dollar now! (For those who donate over $25 we'll make sure you get a FREE "Strawberry Say No to Drugs Shirt" circa 1986 from our friends over at NoMas). Click here and donate a $1 and help us us raise limo/flower funds through Amazon's secure donation tool!
Hey, we never got those flowers! Even though we were bummed about Theo not coming, we're over it now and we had a good prom. Thanks for the support.
