As the US team heads abroad to recapture the Ryder Cup our eyes turn to their pairings... more specifically to their wives or "WAGS" (a term used for Wives And Girlfriends as derived by the foreign tabloids in their fervent football coverage).

As Woods and Co. prepare to tee it off in Ireland it is interesting to note who got lucky landing a world class wife. As it turns out making plenty of green isn't the only thing that's par for the course for being a top PGA star ... so is landing a lovely bird (more British slang).

So in the spirit of the Ryder Cup thewadeblogs.com complied this list of Golf's 18 hottest wives. Enjoy our tour as we gave each a score based on whom we think will have tongues a WAGging this weekend.

1. Diane Antonopoulos (Luke Donald) score: double eagle

Sure everyone remembers Luke's let down with Woods in last pairing of the PGA championship as he ended up getting trounced by Tiger but we think Luke might have the edge in the wife department. The engaging Antonopoulus recently announced her engagement to Donald making Diane the princess of English golfing world.(in pink & 2nd from left in plane picture)

1. Elin Nordegren (Tiger Woods)... score: double eagle

Elin still has be considered the tops but she's facing some stiff competition from abroad esp. from Diane (in pink above) and from Emma Loferen, a fellow Swede (see below.)

3. Sonya Toms (David)... score: double eagle

While everyone was clamoring to check out Amy Mickelson in a recent Sports Illustrtaed Swimsuit issue which featured sports stars wives... it was Sonya Toms who won everyone over. (See picture at right.)

4. Amy Mickelson (Phil)... score: eagle

Sure Amy's hot but we wonder if she feels threatend by her husband's growing man boobs. Amy earns extra points on two fronts: 1. Like Alison McGinley above you have to give her props given the fact Amy still looks incredible after having three kids. 2. She enjoys making fun of her dufous husband as much as the rest of the public and press does.

5. Jocelyn Hefner (Paul Casey)... score: eagle

Casey famously jumped on the US' back when he quipped “Americans are stupid; I hate them" but Paul really showed us as he now dates an Arizona horse jumper. Casey better watch out as Hugh Hefner might want to scoop up Ms. Hefner... (click on pic at left for pop up)

6. Alison McGinley (Paul) ... score: eagle

Its no wonder that Irish bookmaker Ladbroke's has this Irish lass going off at 8:1 that she'll be the most photgraphed WAG of the tourney (she's pictured at far right in the picture exiting the plane). We think Alison resembles Joan Collins (when she was on Batman not her Dynasty days). Speaking of which, Paul and Alison might be building their own golfing dynasty considering she was a former golf pro herself and they are raising three youngsters.

7. Morgan-Leigh Norman (Sergio Garcia)... score: (b.c.) eagle

As thewadeblogs.com recently reported Sergio is swimming with sharks as he is dating Greg Norman's daughter, Morgan-Leigh, a Boston college Co-Ed.

8. Emma Loferen (Henrik Stenson)... score: birdie

How swede it is... Stenson plans tp marry his long-term girlfriend, Emma, later on in 2006. Emma is a scratch golfer herself. (left in pic)

9. Caroline & Padraig Harrington... score: birdie

Considering Padraig's predicliction to choke (he's never won a major despite numerous top tens) we wonder why Caroline didn't go with a surer bet esp. given that Padraig's cousin is World Series of poker champion Dan Harrington. (3rd from right in plane picture)

Making the turn to home(ly)... Note: only the last two on our list, which happen to be the captain's wives are scary.

10. Alex Leigh (Colin Montgomerie)... score: birdie

Along with Jose Maria O, the divorced Monte is one of the swinging bachelor's on the European team. You might remember thewadeblogs.com recently caught up with Monte and model Alex Leigh, whom he escorted to Wimbledon. (click on thumbnail at left to enlarge in popup)

11. Tabitha Furyk (Jim)... score: birdie

While Jim might be known for his bald top Tabitha is known of her head turning halter tops. The Furyk’s are known as being gracious hosts for the PGA jetset and evidently Tabitha’s tenderloin is the talk of the tour.

12. Amy and Chad Campbell... score: birdie

Chad's wife Amy is an aspiring singer. Apparently Chad didn't get any tips for Amy from Justin Timberlake. Campbell recenlty played with the want to be singer/golfer (check out JT's alter ego in Tiger woods golf) at the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic in January which he won. Chad noted, "I didn't feel like we were close enough to get into that."

13. Laurae Westwood (Lee)... score: par

Talk about a family affarir... Laurare's brother is former Ryder Cup participant Andrew Coltart . (2nd from right in plane picture)

14. Amy and Chris Di Marco... score: par

The Florida gator showed his teeth at the President's Cup. Amy (above right with Melissa Lehman at left) has got some tough skin as she not only has given Chris a hand serving as his caddie but she waited around 11 years for him to ask her for her hand in marriage. As it turns out Chris and Amy were childhood sweethearts who met in high school and went to prom together.

15. Lisa Cink (Stewart)... score: par

These two have been insync since their college days a Georgia Tech where they got married andstarting having kids.

"It's not for everybody, but it's been great for Lisa and me. We got married and started a family while we were undergraduates at Georgia Tech. Back then, we had nothing. Now we have a lot of years to look back on and can really appreciate what we have together."

16. Lisa Verplank (Scott)... score: par

17. Melissa Lehman (Tom)... score: bogey

Sorry Tom, but Melissa (at right above) looks like a tanned man but, hey look on the bright side at least you win in the matchup between captain's wives. The mare faced Melissa could have easily been mistaken for horse while the player's wives were guests of honor at Ryder Cup Race Day at the Curragh race course in County Kildare. Maybe if you're lucky Tom you can get Jocelyn Hefner to train her?

18. Glendryth Wooseman (Ian)... score: double bogey

Huggh... Glendryth (at left above) makes us woozy.
