After watching the Tour de France with Floyd Landis' family and doctor I booked down to San Diego to catch Comic Con.
It turned out to be a great day as I happened to land an incredible interview with comic book legend and sports afficiando Todd McFarlane. As I mentioned in a previous post Todd has not only spawned huge comic book company but he is also the owner of the Edmonton Oilers not to mention perhaps the world's most famous private baseball collections.
Check out this impromtu interview in which the animated McFarlane personally sketches out* his Oilers 3rd team jersey (which he himself designed) and hear Todd state his intentions on adding Barry Bonds's no. 715 home run ball (currently up for auction on ebay) to his others famous baseballs (McFarlane owns Barry's no. 73 and McGwire's no. 70... for which he paid a record $3 million).
It was really cool to see how passionate Todd was about sports and I actually had a ton more questions to ask McFarlane. However given the unruly mob behind me weilding lightsabers I was quickly ushered away for my own safety as I had evidently begun to bogart McFarlane's face time with his frenzied fans.
Check out the Todd McFarlane interview below and enjoy some additional footage of the colorful Comic Con attendees in their crazy costumes. You have to give to these people props as despite being decked out in some goofy garb they still have the gonads to go for it and hit on the ladies (watch Luke light up for Leia and Dick step up to Wonderwoman).
** For those wondering I did get Todd to sign the original drawing which he penned... and no it is not for sale. McFarlane said he'd have my head if his handlers saw that I had pawned it off on ebay and frankly I don't want to be demonized by a guy who is known for coming up with some pretty creative ways for settling scores in his world of comics.
