A seven year old became the youngest to swim from Alcatraz Island to San Fran yesterday. Braxton Bilbrey (pictured at right) negotiated the chilly, shark infested waters clocking the 1.4 mile swim in 47 minutes thus breaking a nine year old's recent record.
So a little, overachieving 2nd grader bests a 4th grader (what a slacker that kid was, huh?). Kudos to Braxton on his feat but we don't appreciate how he makes the rest of us all feel like total childhood chumps... when we were 7 yrs. old the closest we came to "a 1.4 mile Alcatraz swim" involved negotiating the trecherous 14 feet from our couch to our refrigerator as we drowned ourselves in Jolt soda while watching CHiPs in our Aquaman Underoos.
We have to question why Braxton didn't save himself all of that trouble training et. al and like the rest of us sedentary slackers just tune into Prisonbreak? I mean come on... next time just turn on Fox on the tube little dude.

I was watching who wants to be a millionaire and Braxton Bilbrey was used as a question. I thought it was a cool thing that a 7 yr old can enspire a nation. Maybe he can help from a distance.
