Lionized World Cup Mascots- Vote!

It is being reported that the company who created the 2006 World Cup mascot "Goleo the Lion" has filed for insolvency. Everyone over on the continent especially in host country Germany are up in arms over the mascot selection so we took it upon ourselves to hold our own World Cup mascot election. (Read about our candidates and vote below!)

Background: We can see how the name "Goleo"  is Leo riff off of "Leo the Lion", "Goal" and "Go" but we are still scratching our heads when it comes to his sidekick... a speaking ball named 'Pille?' Is the ball a homage to Pele or rather does it refer to the slang term of pill ? Our own theory holds that maybe Goleo is suffering from piles, hemorrids (look at that growth in the second picture?! )

Much has been made of the company's mascot selection so we at thewadeblogs.com decided to go with the following candidates (click to view them in a pop up) :

1. A.L.F. - we wonder if Nici AG used ALF as prototype for Goleo as their mascot closely resembles the beloved 80's TV icon. A.L.F. would be a great world cup spokesperson considering he is well spoken (ALF currently hosts his own talk show on TVland) not to mention foriegn aliens abroad can relate to an alien hailing from Melmac. Plus having A.L.F. on board would help rid any German host city of any stray cats.

2. Montecore -- okay so he is not quite a lion -- but this tiger has a flair for the dramatic considering he tore his German born caregiver a new one after being distracted by someone in the crowd. Apparently a crazy hairstyle set Montecore off, so any 3. Valderrama type dos (actually he resembles Goleo the Lion) are a don't with Montecore and any players sporting such hairsyles should be wary of a possible goring.

4. "Dutch the Bear" who recently mauled a macaque in a Holland zoo -- this bear is getting a ton of press for his barbarish behavior involving a Barbary Ape and we'll be damned if the Amsterdam bear has not made all soccer hooligan's burn with pride.
